Farmdok was awarded with the silver „Innovation Award Agritechnica 2017“ by the DLG
At the Agritechnica 2017, the world’s biggest fair in agricultural engineering, the DLG (German Agricultural Community) presented its awards to exhibitors and their innovative products. Farmdok GmbH, from Wieselburg, Lower Austria, was awarded with the silver ‚Innovation Award Agritechnica 2017‘ among 320 innovations. Two gold and 29 silver awards were presented.
Farmdok, a Lower Austrian AgTech-Startup set in Wieselburg, developed technologies to automatically record agricultural tasks. In August 2017 their mobile App with further features was launched. This app enables cultivation through recording with GPS-based line-tracking. Agriculturists and contractors benefit from low effort and more comfort during record keeping while working on the field.
Agricultural businesses are mainly run as family businesses (more than 90%). Office workers are rare on farms. However, records (due to food safety and environmental issues) are legally required. Moreover, their relevance for decisions is highly underestimated. Currently, pen and paper are the preferred method of agricultural record keeping. Due to the high effort and strict quality requirements for food producers this method becomes insufficient.
Mobile technologies allow recording directly on the field. The most important legally required are pesticide- and fertilizer application data. The quantities of both are recorded with type and time. For the agriculturist‘s recording every step in the cultivation cycle is essential and necessary prospectively.
Farmdok, with the help of GPS analysis of driving patterns, provides technology that easily distinguishes between driving on the road and field. It allows for an automatic determination of cultivated area as well as the recognition of areas of farmland. The amount of fertilizers applied on each field is also recorded by Farmdok. Illustrating work and transit times takes place without the driver‘s assistance.
Agriculturists benefit from low input and the system offers more comfort and safety while meeting legal requirements. Contractors get a calculation basis through automatic determination of area as well as work and transit times without further effort.
CEO Andreas Prankl: “Farmdok is a milestone in the development of Smartfarming. We intend to offer farmers an opportunity to fully concentrate on value adding work with simple tools and inexpensive smartphones, without losing valuable information. With its latest launch we have accomplished its international application.”
